We couldn’t be happier with our Hengear feeding silo! The chickens love it and we have nothing bad to say about this product. We also got the automatic door and the nesting boxes and love them as well! Highly recommended for anyone looking to simplify their coops!
These mounts are easy to place & make it easy to hang the nest boxes. I have found having a third in the middle has helped support the boxes as we have a lot of birds and they always seem to have a favorite nesting box they pile in.
I have been seeing ads for these nest boxes for a couple of years... I thought they were too expensive and couldn't really make that much of a difference... after getting only 12-15 eggs from 30+ hens, I did the math.... if they are really eating 6-12 eggs a day, I could pay it off in 10-12 weeks. we bought our 1st Hengear next box and we're getting 20-26 eggs a day. Our ladies were eating all our profits! We have not had to do anything to entice our girls to use the new box. They took to it immediately. we have now put 7 boxes in place. This one in the video is with our newest young ladies and they are using it without hesitation. Thank you Hengear for making such a quality, American made product.
I haven’t had a cracked egg since I set it up. Was averaging3/5 chipped/ broke/consumed eggs a day. It’s been two weeks all eggs are clean and no breaks!
I couldn’t recommend this product enough!
Thanks
My only critique is the assembly instructions are vague and less than intuitive. The pictures did not accurately represent the parts, but thankfully, being an architect, I was able to figure it out. The laying coop works wonderfully, though I did add a foam strip at the bottom of slope to prevent breakage.

Thanks so much for your review! We're really glad that the trainer egg worked for your hens!
Looks good so far. Went together well and is well built. I made some modifications to fit my coop, but that was going a little above to seal things a little better for the cold Ohio winters. Had one hen lay an egg in the box the second day and hopefully the rest will start to follow soon.

Love it! I had a rough go at first switching the girls they did not like it and did some adjustments and they seem to be getting used to it. they love trying to roost on top of it and on the metal box part even if I flip the bar up at night. I wish the roll out part for the eggs was just a little bit deeper for the eggs to roll back I’ve watched a couple hens reach their head under and pull the eggs back and sit on them but over all it’s kept my hens from just sitting in the nesting boxes on eggs and leaving no room for other hens , so I will be definitely adding one more to the coop in the future!

Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re happy we could get that replacement part taken care of quickly and make the process easy for you. We truly appreciate your support!
The nesting box in and of itself is fabulous. It’s a quality product. It was fairly easy to construct with one minor exception. First I was building to collect eggs outside the coop. The issue has to do with putting on the top. The 3/8” screws are not long enough. The instructions addresses the issue and provides recommendations. Take my advice, same the time go to Lowe’s or wherever and by longer screws like #8-32 by 1 inch. The increased length allows you to work around the problem. Hen Gear knowing the issue exist should provide the screws. Beyond that singular annoyance it took me about an hour and a half to put the box together.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback! We’re glad to hear you’re happy with the quality of the Nest Box and that assembly went smoothly overall.
We also really appreciate you pointing out the issue with the 3/8" screws when setting the box up for outside egg collection. Feedback like this is helpful, and we’ll make sure it’s shared with our team as we continue looking for ways to improve the assembly experience.
Thanks again for choosing HenGear and for taking the time to share such a detailed review!
Love the design and quality! So glad we decided to add this to our new coop!

Love Love Love these nesting boxes! Started with one medium for 32 chickens and it wasn’t big enough so we bought another. Works perfectly! So happy to have clean, unbroken eggs!

We love it! Clean, unbroken eggs all day, everyday! The boys love collecting them. Easy to maintain and clean the nesting box and mat! Years of work, just got a lot easier! Recommend HenGear to everyone!

Love it! The ladies warmed up to it pretty quickly. We had some egg eaters (both hens and dogs) and they constantly trashed the nests - so we had very few eggs left at the end of the day, and what was left was always dirty. Since installing, we've had more eggs than ever and they're clean! Simple to assemble and well worth the money. So glad to have found this.

I could not have assembled without your video! The video was made well and I understood every detail.
The box has only been in the coop 2 days so waiting for them to try it out. I still have a few other nesting boxes to remove then I'm hoping they will use it.

We love it and so do our feather babies. We do recommend watching the video, that way you can stop and rewind if needed. We had no problems at all and the girls took to it right away. Makes our coup look so much nicer.

Had to move my flock recently so decided to use the hengear nest box. Most my birds figured it out within a couple of days. Eggs are definitely cleaner and no breakage anymore.

I absolutely recommend the laying hen box. We love it and the eggs are cleaner. Money well spent. Just make the purchase, you will be happy with the results. I’m sure of it.

Great design and all six hens like it. I'm in training mode so the curtains are up. Think in another day or so I'll put them down, maybe one at a time. Best nest box purchase I've ever made.

We are SO happy that we decided to purchase!! We had been struggling with filthy eggs for a while and had gone back and forth about making the investment into the HenGear Roll-out Nest Box and it was an INSTANT game changer. We thought our hens might take a little while to go in there and lay but by the next day after putting it in the run, we already had eggs in there and they were spotless! Definitely recommend and will be purchasing another one.

The nesting box is great! The chickens go in, lay their eggs and we get clean eggs. This is so much better than using pine chips or hay in Tupperware boxes.
Great and very well made product. Took several days of making other areas of the coop “undesirable “ and now they all seem to use it no problem. We used to average 8 to 10 eggs a week broken from our small flock of 12. Now we have had only one in the past 3 weeks.

My wife and I put this together.
Our hens are loving it and so are we.
It is nice to have clean eggs for a change.
I should have bought one a long time ago.
Will definitely get another one or two in the future.
"Clean eggs at last"
Howdy, I’m Brice Hitzfield, the 3rd son of the Seven Sons Farms family. On our farm in Roanoke, Indiana, we’ve raised over 60,000 hens in the past 20 years. Along the way, we discovered key challenges that were holding back egg production, and set out to design solutions that make life easier for farmers and their flocks.
Here are the maximum number of hens reccomended for each size:
Small Nest Box: Holds 4 hens at a time, suitable for up to 20 hens
Medium Nest Box: Holds 6 hens at a time, suitable for up to 32 hens
Large Nest Box: Holds 8 hens at a time, suitable for up to 50 hens
X-Large Nest Box: Holds 12 hens at a time, suitable for up to 75 hens
For larger hen breeds like Brahmas, Buff Orpingtons, or Jersey Giants, we recommend reducing the maximum capacity by 5 hens per nest box size. For example, the Small Nest Box would accommodate 15 large breed hens instead of the usual 20.
If you have any specific questions or need further calculations based on these limits, feel free to ask!
Is there really enough space for the hens you recommend per box?
Our nest box is designed to support more hens by utilizing a "community style" design. Here's how it works:
No Divider Walls: Traditional nest boxes have divider walls creating individual holes or compartments (e.g., 2-hole, 4-hole, 8-hole). These can cause overcrowding as hens prefer to join other hens in the same space, leading to stress and potential injury.
Community Style: The community-style nest box eliminates these dividers, providing a single, open space for all the hens. This design mimics the natural behavior of hens, who prefer to lay eggs in communal areas.
Reduced Overcrowding: Without the dividers, the risk of overcrowding is minimized because the hens have more space to spread out. This reduces stress and the likelihood of injuries.
By adopting this design, the nest box can comfortably accommodate the maximum number of hens for each size without the drawbacks associated with traditional divided nest boxes.
Does my HenGear nest box come with everything I need?
Yes, your nest box will include everything you need, such as:
To keep the included nest pad clean, it's important to ensure hens are not sleeping in the nest box overnight. Here are the recommended steps:
Daily Maintenance: Raise the red roost bar after collecting the eggs each day. This prevents hens from sleeping in the nest box overnight, which helps keep the nest pad cleaner.
Cleaning Schedule: To clean your nest pad, remove it and gently shake it out weekly. On a monthly basis, soak it in hot, soapy water and then rinse it with a low-pressure hose before placing it back in the nest box.
By following these steps, you can maintain a clean and hygienic environment for your hens with minimal effort.
How long does it take to assemble a nest box?
We recommend setting aside 2 hours to complete the assembly of your nest box.
