On our farm, raising guard dogs for protecting our chicken flocks is absolutely essential!
Pasture-Raised hens or broilers are the best way to raise chickens, but anyone that is in the business knows how hard it can be to keep all your chickens safe from predators.
That is why we have spent the last few years raising up guard dogs bred and trained for the purpose of poultry protection.
This female guard dog is just 7 months old. Her name is Violet. She a mix of Great Pyrenees, & Karakachan.
Violet, like the rest of our dogs, has spent their entire life with chickens and has developed protective instincts with the flocks.
Proper understanding of a guard dog's role and knowing your relationship to the animal is essential in helping the dog do its job - protecting your livestock!
